CLICK CLICK CLICK THE VIDEO!

An oldie but a goodie:

~ click eeeet - you know you want to ~

This video makes me so haaaaaappppyyyyyy :D :D :D I just want to run laps around the townhouse after watching it. One of the best routines on the show I think - mainly because Alex was a ballet dancer from the Miami City Ballet company before going on SYTYCD:

No wonder the crowd went crazy.

Yes, now that I've depleted my supply of X-Factor and The Voice videos, I'm going back to good ol' SYTYCD ones.

By the way, Iced came out two days ago and after checking Dymocks online, I found out that the closest store that has it in stock is in Nowra.... which is like a 2 hour 10 minute drive from Sydney. So anybody feeling in the mood for a road trip?

Oh look! Another distraction!

Exam Reaction: English Extension 1

I have discovered the secret to coming out of an exam pleasantly satisfied and that is: lower your expectations. It was Extension 1 - what more can I say? Probably won't even count towards my top ten so no worries bro.

I actually quite liked the exam paper to be honest. Honestly, I dare you to find a question more generic than:

"Texts in this module are related to a particular historical period, and the diverse perspectives they offer are significant to an understanding of the ways of thinking during that period. To what extent does this statement reflect your study of this module."

Seriously BOS, if you were gonna give us that question, you should've just written, "Tell us everything you know about Romanticism"

Creative was, "Compose a piece of imaginative writing that explores the pursuit of truth, where a letter features an important element. In your response, draw on your knowledge and understanding of Romanticism". No drama there either - I basically regurgitated my slave trade story.

All in all,

Approvals. Lots of approvals.

Thanks for all the good luck guys! Maybe that made all the difference. It would be remiss of me to not return the luck - keep the karma circulating and all that. So good luck tomorrow PDHPE people! And good luck History Extension-ers for Thursday! I know Jun is very excited for that test LOL.

Here, have a Bella Ferraro video to de-stress. Don't mind the Slendermen - they're just there to look pretty.

Pre-Exam Reaction: English Extension 1

Believe it or not, once upon a time, I used to like Extension English. Then something happened - namely my utter crapiness at the subject and I realised that English would become an age-old enemy of mine. Ironically enough, it's also the subject I try the hardest at and spend the most hours studying, so there we are. Go figure.

I'm guessing there's gonna be a little bit of this:

Some of this:

A whole lot of this:

With a bit of this to round it all off:

That's right Sheldon - you tell him how it is!

Iced comes out tomorrow!!!

This was on Karen Marie Moning's facebook page:

*********************

“I make a new discovery that totally blows…dying is the easy part. It’s coming back to life that sucks.” ICED

The other day one of my friends was asking about the new book coming out. He’s a huge fan of the FEVER series, and hangs out at my FB page regularly so I was surprised to discover he had no idea what ICED was about, or where it fit into the overall FEVER story arc. I realized you could probably use some clarification, too.

ICED is the sixth book in the Fever series. The only difference is ICED is narrated by Dani, interspersed with various other first-person points of view. (One of those first person points of view is Christian MacKeltar.)

ICED opens up one week before Shadowfever ends, at the sidhe-seer’s abbey, the morning after the Cruce got imprisoned beneath it. You don’t miss a beat in the action I developed in the prior books.

Some of the characters you will see: Dani, Dancer, Ryodan, Christian, Lor, Jo, Kat, Cruce, Velvet, a glimpse or two of Mac & Barrons, and many others.

BURNED and FLAYED are books 7 & 8 in the Fever series. Again, told from Dani’s viewpoint, plus others. Books 9 & 10 will return to Mac’s point of view. Mostly. If you don’t read 6, 7 & 8, books 9 and 10 won’t make any sense.

Here are a few of the main questions I keep getting asked.

Q: How old is Dani in this series?
A: 14 when it starts. 17 when it ends.

Q: Ew. Teens can’t have sex!
A: Right. What world are you living in?

Q: Does she have sex at 14?
A: No.

Q: Is there sex in this trilogy?
A: Have you forgotten who's writing it?

Q: Is Dani’s voice the same as it was in the Fever books?
A: No. In the Fever books Dani was 5% of the story, so I made her voice colorful enough to stand out in an epic world. In ICED, her story is epic, so her voice is more natural, more her own. (This answers Othilia's question.)

Q: Do these books end on cliffhangers?
A: No. ICED gives a solid feel-good wrap.

Q: Do you love Dani’s story as much as Mac’s?
A: Absolutely, and I was astonished by that. I thought it was going to be much harder to leave Mac and Barrons than it was. I realized I hadn’t left them at all. I’d merely detoured down a different dark street in Dublin. Still looking up at the Old World façade of BB&B at night, with all the lights on, still seeing Barrons ‘(Bugatti in ICED) glide down the street, still watching Mac’s toss her hair across Chester’s dance floor. Just watching it through different eyes.

Stay tuned for an excerpt soon…

******************

That fourth question makes me laugh.

So.......

Judging from what I see up there, Iced is starting to sound like a glorified sexfest or something. LOL. (Shame on everyone for asking KMM those questions! Hehe. Okay, I was kind of curious but still... Control your hormones people!)

It probably won't be though 'cause I trust KMM and I trust that her stories will have plot and character development - even if they are urban fantasy and not profound literary fiction. (Year 12 English has turned me off anything that requires brain power. After the HSC, I'll probably go back to reading books that don't corrupt my brain but in the meantime....)

Even if it was a glorified sexfest, here's to hoping more than half of that stuff will be about Jericho Z. Barrons ;)

It's okay, you can say it: I have no shame. Someone really needs to give me a good series to read to make this waiting easier.

Song of the Week: "The Last Time" by Taylor Swift ft. Gary Lightbody

This one caught my attention. Not sure why. Maybe it was the harmonies - I am such a sucker for good harmonies, y'know. (That probably explains my unhealthy, soul-consuming obsession for The Civil Wars...)

I love Taylor Swift but sometimes her songs do get a bit repetitive. I feel like she did try to do something different with the new album though so I'll cut her some slack and try not to roll my eyes at her lyrics. (I have a sneaking suspicion that whenever she feels lazy, she grabs bits and pieces from her journal/diary and uses those excerpts as lyrics for her songs). If she wants to write about relationships - fine. It's obviously worked before so no point changing something that doesn't need fixing. But, as someone mentioned on youtube, instead of writing about how sucky all her past boyfriends were, she might want to try writing songs about how sucky she is at choosing guys to date. Now there's something to ponder.

P.S. Emily, I totally understand your confusion over the Janoskians! My sister loves them but I just find them mildly annoying and vulgar-ish. (No hate to anyone out there who does love them though. Just putting in my two cents.)

Feelings

People who know me know that it's really hard to make me cry for a movie, book or tv show. I can think of maybe just two incidents in my entire life where I got teary over something I watched or read: the first of these being that time I read The Book Thief by Markus Zusak and the second being Toy Story 3. (There was also that strange moment years ago when an episode of SYTYCD made my eyes itch but that might have been because of a weird hormonal glitch...) It's not that I don't feel emotions - I felt angry after watching The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, depressed after The Pursuit of Happiness and mildly empty after the last Harry Potter book - but all those feelings came with a certain sense of detachment, like I was feeling it.... but at the same time not feeling it.

Haha, this is really hard to explain. Basically what I'm trying to say is that I don't cry over books/movies. I've got Tian to do that for me, lol.

Which is why it's so weird that this morning, the book I was reading made my eyes go a little bit teary.

What is this mindfuckery???

That was my first reaction. My kobo e-reader told me I was only on page 168 of 424 and already I was feeling ~EMOTIONS~. I thought, how was this possible?? Is this a strange side effect of the HSC or am I just reading something totes awesome. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY THAW OUT THIS FROZEN HEART OF MINE??

It's still too early to say what happened and I'm barely near the middle of the book so it would be stupid to try to write a review. I just wanted to let you guys know about this strange occurrence. I won't blog about it yet but I will post a related picture here.

Now for something totally different and not as melancholy:

ICED COMES OUT IN THREE DAYS!!!

My sentiments exactly.

My love for the Fever Series is inexplicable and has probably been unreasonably exacerbated by the amount of time I spend on goodreads or fangirling over Barrons. I can't help it okay? We all have our guilty pleasures.

If you STILL haven't read it, this is my not-so-subtle hint that you should go out and purchase the whole series. Like now. Or maybe after the HSC. Will I ever stop doing this? Er no. If I could, I would probably haunt your dreams and whisper to your subconsciousness to do so. HURRY UP AND FUCKING READ ALREADY GUYS SO WE CAN SHARE OUR FEELINGS AND STUFF BEFORE I EXPLODE. IT'S BEEN LIKE, ALMOST A YEARRRRR.

Okay, till next time then.

P.P.S. I wish youtube would stop changing its layout every five seconds. It's getting annoying.

,

Look! A Distraction!

Really puts into perspective how insignificant all our HSC problems are. (That's right Cynthia, stop with your stupid whining and like, grow a pair already.)

I just realised that this time next week, I will be done.

Also, my view counts have been steadily increasing over these last two weeks... It's nice to know that everyone's taking their studies so seriously and staying away from the internet and its distractions :P

,

Just me being pathetic and stuff

I must be masochistic. Why else would I go on boredofstudies and read forums from people saying how easy 3u was? :( Gawd why do I do this to myself???

,

Exam Reaction: Mathematics Extension 1

My reaction in gifs:

Mathematics Extension 1.... also known as the test which everyone liked but Cynthia :( I know, in comparison to tests of previous years, this one actually wasn't too bad. There were no yucky binomials or probability questions but I still hated it 'cause I ran out of time. I had to skip some questions which, if I only had a few extra minutes, I might have been able to get.

There really is nothing worse than coming out of a test knowing you could have done better, is there? Nothing worse than feeling like you wasted so many hours of preparation / work because you pulled a Liu Xiang and sold yourself short at the final hurdle.

Oh well. You know what they say - spilt milk and all that jazz. I've had my little pity party so now it's time to move on and prepare for the next test - aka the bane of my existence, Extension 1 English (which I have no doubt is going to suck ass). At this rate, I'm going to run out of sad gifs.

,

Decisions, decisions

I am so sick of the inside of my room.

~ Freeeeedom ~ So close, and yet so far....

I'm really worried about the last two questions of the 3 unit maths exam. In all the past papers that I've done, I've rarely ever managed to complete the last question. Plus, they take forever. I'm wondering if I should even waste my time on them tomorrow. Would it be better to dedicate the rest of my exam time on those ugly questions or should I just use that time to check over my paper for silly mistakes? Decisions, decisions....

,

Melanie Martinez on The Voice

She's so cute :D and she's playing the tambourine with her feet as well!

Le sigh. Having all three X-Factors on at the same time was bad enough. Now that NBC is uploading The Voice, I'm going to have an even worse time dragging myself off YouTube to do this "studying" thing.

Exam Reaction: 2 Unit Mathematics

Reading Jun's post reminds me of how much I used to like t.A.T.u.

So how was the 2 unit test? Well see, I'm not sure what I can say about 2 unit because the whole time I was doing the test, I WAS DYING FROM HYPOTHERMIA.

I literally couldn't feel my pinky at the end of those three hours. Don't even ask me about question 16. All I could remember was compulsively rubbing my arms and sitting on my hands for the last thirty minutes. I did manage to complete the whole paper but ran out of time to do a double check... which kind of sucks 'cause I specialize in silly mistakes.

It didn't help that I went to a party the night before... Felt kind of groggy in the morning LOL.

Anyway, I know my posts have been very sporadic and short lately but just bear with me during the HSC. It'll get back to normal afterwards.

Here, have another flashback song:

Existential Crisis

Just something to contemplate - even though we all need an existential crisis in the middle of the HSC about as much as we need a hole drilled through our skull.

So I've been spending a lot of time on Youtube ('cause like, what else are you supposed to do during the HSC?) and lately, I've been watching a lot of videos from danisnotonfire. I really like his vlogging style. It's not over-the-top cheesy and he doesn't rely on crude humour for laughs. Plus, he's got a lot of interesting stuff to say and I find that his videos often make you think a bit at the end, which is a nice change from the constant swearing and ranting you often find on Youtube. (Not to say those videos aren't entertaining - 'cause they are - lol Kingsley.)

Anyhoo, he's also got a new video with the twins from Jacksgap up today, which is awesome. It's like all the best British youtubers decided to get together and throw a party or something. They should totally make a video with Charlie, Alex, Jack and Finn. Imagine all the views they would get... not to mention the overabundance of eye-candy for everyone else, LOL. #shallowmuch?

,

Sims 3 Seasons

(For Tian and Othilia, if you guys haven't seen this yet.)

IS THAT NOT THE MOST AWESOMEST EXPANSION TO HAVE EVER GRACED THE SIMS???

,

Colin O'Donoghue as Captain Hook

As you can see, I have a very important reason to get back to Once Upon A Time; a very sexy, broody, manliner'd, Irish reason, as a matter of fact...

Exam Reaction: English Advanced Paper 2

I'm feeling a bit of this:

And perhaps a bit of this too:

Don't get the wrong idea. This is not to say that I did brilliantly in Paper 2 and that my essays were Hermione-Granger standard. For all I know, I could've fucked it up real bad - when I came out of the exam room, I had an "oh shit" moment where I realised I never used the terminology of the question in my essay so I might have screwed up my chances of getting A-range responses. Also, there were moments where I had no idea what I was writing and whether it was even relatable to the question but I regurgitated my stuff anyway...

BUT NONE OF THAT MATTERS BECAUSE I DIDN'T RUN OUT OF TIME. Like seriously guys, I was so scared of not being able to finish my essays because everytime I practiced them at home, I always went over by like 3 minutes. So technically, it shouldn't have been possible for me to finish all three. Also, the BOS people must've felt bad about Paper 1 'cause Paper 2 had great questions. Well, at least I thought they were great... I had a mini heart-attack when I saw the EBB question but then I realised that two nights ago, I'd spent an hour trying to explain Romantic Modernism to people who needed my help and that IT WAS ALL GOOD 'CAUSE I COULD TALK ABOUT THAT IN "TEXTUAL FORM". HALLE-FREAKIN-LUJAH. HIGH-FIVES ALL AROUND.

In the end though, I'm just really glad there were no nasty surprises in that test, aka no asking for two related texts or something in Module C. Plus, like Emily said on her blog, being able to do your best is the only thing that matters.

Hooray! I'm so glad maths is up next. I need a break from intensive cramming.

Song of the Week: "Apologize" by One Republic

This song used to be da shitz. It is still da shitz.

Might decide to do a focus on "old" music videos 'cause I'm feeling nostalgic. Might include some of, "ROMEO TAKE ME SOMEWHERE WE CAN BE ALONE" or "I KEEP BLEEDING, I KEEP KEEP BLEEDING LUUURRVVEEE" or "CRY ME A RIVERRR... CRY ME A RIVERRRR" or "BIG GIRLS DON'T CRYYY" or "IF I COULD ESCAPE & RECREATE A PLACE THAT'S MY OWN WORLD" or "NEVER HAD A DREAM COME TRUE / TILL THE DAY THAT I FOUND YOUUUU!!"

.....

.....

..... so what if I liked S Club 7? DEAL WITH IT BITCHES.

,

A gif to go with my exam reaction

Almost forgot, no exam reaction is complete without an accompanying gif:

So when I saw the stimulus and essay question, I was like:

GET IT GUYS?? DO YOU GET IT?? 'CAUSE LIKE "TIME" WAS THE KEY CONCEPT, Y'KNOW....

Okay. I 'm sorry, I understand. It's too soon - the pain is still too raw. I'll find a better gif next time.

,

Exam Reaction: English Paper 1

Will probably be doing a really short reaction for each test. Like really short. Like:

Fucked up Section I, fucked up the creative but the essay, surprisingly, didn't seem that bad once I moulded my thesis to the question.

- end reaction -

I had a feeling they were gonna screw us over. Like WTF has "passage of time" got to do with anything? LOL. Ah well, it's over now. ONWARDS TO PAPER 2!!

The HSC Checklist

You will need:
  • A paper bag for hypperventilation usage
  • A mattress for when you see the first question and decide to faint
  • A toilet for all the bullshit and word-vomit that's going to come out of your pen
  • A suitably blank expression for all those seconds spent staring at the clock, watching the time slip through your fingers
  • A suitably pissed off expression for when the person next to you asks for more paper when you haven't even finished one booklet
  • An extraordinary capacity for hope... 'cause that's the only thing keeping you from breaking out into hysterics
  • A lot of luck - to ensure that the stimulus for creative writing matches your prepared story.
And um yeah. I think that's all.

Good luck tomorrow everyone :)

The Extent of my Dislike

Not sure if I've ever mentioned this, but I bloody hate English Advanced/Extension so much. Like, if someone came up to me and told me that Fifty Shades of Grey was their favourite book and that Twilight was one of their favourite movies ever made and that  Nat Bassingthwaite was, in their opinion, the greatest judge of X Factor ever and totally awesome at picking songs for Bella Ferraro, my hatred for that person would not exceed my hatred for the subject of English.

.....about the subject of English.

So yeah, I really hate high school English - just had to get that off my chest. And if someone finally discovers what use I will have for being able to critically analyse A Doll's House or successfully comparing EBB's sonnets to The Great Gatsby in the future, by all means, please share your views.

Severe Brain Blockage

A gif that describes my situation perfectly:

Today, I tried to write another "A Doll's House" essay. My brain seized up and I epic-ly failed. This has been happening a lot lately. Now I feel sad because that was supposed to be my best module. So I'm going to go downstairs and drown my sorrows in Oreo cookies and milk now. The end.

Glorious, Glorious Posters

Awesome posters from Once Upon a Time's new season.

Regina (The Evil Queen) - on a side note, that's totally how I like to sit to answer my phone as well.... not.

Little Red:

Snow White:

Belle (I see what you did there with the teapot and teacup):

Rumplestiltskin, deliciously creepy as always:

And er.... Prince Charming:

LOL yeah, that last one is a bit.... strange. I think they were going for whimsy but kind of ended up with "really bad photoshop job".

All images come from Once Upon a Time's facebook page.

My 712th Post

Most people wouldn't celebrate a 712th post but seeing as I forgot to celebrate my 700th post a few weeks ago, well, this should make up for it.

Random post is random.

  • The only thing I hate more than the actual HSC is waiting for the HSC. It's driving me ~CRAAAAAZYYYY~ *insert spastic arm flail* At the beginning of the holidays, I was all like, "If I'm prepared, it shouldn't be too bad" but now I'm like, "OH SHIZ WHAT IF THE QUESTION IS STRANGE AND UNANSWERABLE?!?!"

  • I don't know why I suddenly remember this but there was this one time when I was at Jazz practice at the RSL and my friend and I were talking about me having gotten into the OC class when out of nowhere, this other girl pops up and screams, "OMG YOU GOT INTO THE OC?! THAT'S MY FAVOURITE SHOW!!"
  • I've been watching lots of Kingsley videos to procrastinate.
  • With every day that passes, the fucks I give about English Extension exponentially decreases.
  • I can't wait until the HSC is over and I can finally do stuff without feeling guilty.
  • I keep going downstairs to get food in an attempt to put off studying, and when I eat, I eat extra, extra slowly so I don't have to get back to work.
  • I still haven't watched Spiderman or the new Batman movie.
  • The covers of historical romances make me laugh. Wait no - I should rephrase - the covers of every type of romance book, be it historical, paranormal, contemporary or mystery-thriller are capable of making me break out into giggles because they're so cheesy and remind me of bad photoshop. Even amateur instagram photos look a hundred times better.
  • I really feel like playing Sims all of a sudden... or Skyrim.... or something....
  • Today I walked outside to bring the rubbish bin in and the sun on my face was such a foreign feeling. I would've stayed outside but I was in my PJs and thongs and my neighbour was giving me weird looks. If you're wondering, my neighbour is like, 6 or 7 and my mum calls him Harry Potter because he resembles the young, boy wizard. I also think he has a crush on my sister.
  • I lost my train of thought and can't be bothered continuing this post.
  • Til next time, guys!

The Best Thing Ever

There are no words in the English language that come close to even describing how mind-blowingly awesome this is. No words.

Song of the Week: "Somewhere Only We Know" by Keane

Flashback to '09.... although now that I think about it, I don't actually remember hearing this song in 2009...

There'll probably be a cut-back on the number of posts for the next 4 - 5 weeks. It's not that I have no time to blog, but mainly because I'd rather do something else when I have free time... like read books or youtube. It's a funny thing, this "studying". I have no idea whether I'm doing enough of it but at the same time can't be bothered amping up the hours. During those rare times that I feel like I have done enough, I would then go do something fun to reward myself. And then afterwards, I'd feel guilty as hell. Yeah, it's a weird cycle.

Anyway, hope everyone's having a great week (lol). Here, have a lolthatsme thingy:
