2010

HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Here's to hoping everyone has a joyous and prosperous 2010 (L)(L)(L)

Like every year, I had a townhouse party to celebrate New Years, but unlike the other years I also had relatives from my mum's side over. The past few days have been kind of depressing. For those who don't know, my Grandpa passed away this Tuesday and so my family has kinda stuck together for the past three days. There's been a lot of crying, but on New Year's Eve everyone decided to just be happy and grateful.

I know I don't end up doing my New Year's resolutions but this year I'm going to try:

  • Be a braver person - I mean that in the sense that I won't let what other people think get me down. Every year, my dad gets me a desktop calender. It's a calender thing that has pages for every day of the year. I've just opened mine and the quote says: "Resolve to be thyself; and know that he who finds himself loses his misery." I'm not exactly sure what it means but it has something to do with being yourself (?)
  • Excercise more - aka stop being such a lardass and go bike riding with Othilia or something.
  • Stop being so judgemental of other people. It's a really bad habit that I have and I should really stop doing it.
  • Last but not least: Be a nicer person. Pretty self explanatory.

It's a pretty demanding list but as I said, I'm going to try. Once again, Happy New Year everyone!

"Asian People from an Asian Person's Perspective"

- is the book that I'm gonna write one day. Not being racist or anything, but it would make an interesting book. I could look at the stereotypes that surround asian people these days and deduct whether they are plausible or not.

You know that girl from Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging? You know how she said her parent's are the most embarassing parents on Earth? Well, I beg to differ. Her parents weren't asian >_>

As far as asian parents go though, mine are alright I guess. Like they speak English but they can't seem to get rid of that accent. And yes, I'm afraid that stereotype that asian parents push their kids into doing maths or science is true. I mean, why do you think so many people at CVH are doing science and maths while not that many are doing English advanced or history? Personally, I just want to do something non-boring and earn lots and lots of $$$$$$$$$$ :p and get an apartment in the city.

I went to Cabra today to get a haircut. My hair looks the same, something that I'm happy about. Thank god, the hairdresser didn't just take out a pair of giant scissors and go SNIP! I don't know- I feel traumatised when they cut off too much. The last hairdresser I went to did that and I ended up wishing for her hair to turn green and fall off.

After that, we went to my piano teacher's house to drop off a Xmas present. Yes, you heard that right. I was FORCED to do that, okay? I'm not the type of person to go giving out christmas presents to teachers but apparently my mum is. Urrgh, I felt like such an idiot standing there with the present when the teacher opened up the door. I seriously wanted to smash the thing on my mum's head and go, "YOU CRAZY WOMAN, WHY'D YOU MAKE ME DO THIS?!"

Sadly, I didn't.

Last night, Tian and Yuan came over and we watched "The Nightmare Before Christmas" on the projector thingy. It was alright... kind of boring though. I was comparing it to one of Tim Burton's later works "The Corpse Bride" and I guess I was expecting it to be really good. Oh well. After that, we youtubed "1234-Feist on Sesame St" and watched that as well :L Manly came over and he was like, "Are you serious? Why're you watching this for? Go search up fat kids on youtube."

So we took his advice and did that. HAHAHAHA. We weren't being mean, we were just really really bored. There was one where this Chubby lil' boy was singing some cutesy song and it full cracked me up. He was so cuuuuuuuuuuuuuute. His cheeks were like APPLES.

Running Out of Things to Do

I'm gonna try to blog more in the holidays but sometimes there's just so much to say that I can't be bothered. This post is gonna be written while I do my tutor homework so bear with me.

Yesternight, I was on www.isketch.net . For those who don't know what it is, it's like a game site where you can verse other ppl around the world at a guessing/drawing game. The players take turns drawing stuff and you have to guess it. It's SERIOUSLY ADDICTIVE. Anyways, the room I joined had an Indian dude and white dude who kept saying racist stuff to each other. I kinda felt sorry for the Indian dude though cuz the white dude kept saying stuff like, "He can't draw, he's Indian!" Asshooooooooooole. I was tempted to say, "Hey, I'm Indian too and I whooped your ass in the last round."But I didn't, cuz that's just the kind of person I am - Too afraid to confront ppl, even if its in Cyberspace.

I just finished the Maximum Ride series that Elyn lent me (Thanks Elyn!). They were pretty good. Fang is like so HOT. Basically, they're about six kids who have wings and special powers. One of them can let out giant, disgusting farts. Awesomeness.

I managed to finish a 500 piece puzzle yesterday with the help of Juliana, Tian, Serena and Yuan while watching Ellen Degeneres (?). Well maybe not Yuan since all he did was try to force the pieces in. In the afternoon, I went over to Tian's house to continue playing guitar hero. Watching Scott sing is so LMAO. He's so... enthusiastic.

I know this is kinda late, but I've only just watched the Susan Boyle audition on youtube. HAHAHHAHA I full cracked up when she did the hip thingy and all the judges were like, "wtf?" She's weird but she sings so good :L I think part of her fame comes from the fact that she doesn't seem like she can sing good. Also she looks more like a 60-something rather than 47.

I think I'm out of things to do now :( Hence the tutoring hw. & I'm also too lazy to actually move my ass out of this townhouse. If anyone wants to mail me Sims 3: World Adventures, then by all means...

A Mental Block

So, I was thinking about how when I write stuff, I usually want to write about fantasy/love/adventure/scenery etc. I took a step back today and decided to write about something I actually understand. I mean, its fun to write about all that other stuff but I'm just wondering if the claim, "Poetry is an expression of your experiences of feelings," is actually true. (I totally made up that quote but you know what I mean.) Also, I was looking through the old Dorothea Mackellar winning poems and most of them aren't about anything flashy. They're mostly about raw emotion (the judge's comments, not mine) or some shit like that.
******

Blank
Unerringly blank
Tauntingly blank
White pages lie unmarked
Innocently staring
Unaware of the torture it does me

Crisp and clean
Is the paper
Chaotic and cluttered
Is my mind
Thoughts flitting past
Words whispering
Pictures assembling
Cacophony of ideas
Tripping over one another
But inspiration is not so easily expressed

Stark white
Of paper in front
Cuts through said thoughts
Like gunfire through a crowd
How to start?
Which words
Will paint the picture?
Pen presses to paper
But nothing flows

No physical barrier
Is stopping me
Yet ideas remain trapped
Beating demandingly
Yearning to be heard
Thoughts coalesce
Behind these lids
Unable to escape
Through the iron door
That is a mental block
*******
Funnily enough, I had a mental block while writing this poem about mental blocks.
I was trying to describe how I feel when I write. Nothing ever comes out the way I want it to T_T' I also take forever to write something. Maybe its because I overthink it. Urrrgh, how do authors write books?? It takes me 2 HOURS just to write a stupid poem. Please tell me it gets easier if you practice ><'

Avatar at IMAX

Yesterday night, Nancy, Tian, Amy, Yuan, Serena and I went to watch Avatar 3D at IMAX. Roxie's parents drove us there and paid for our tickets. That was our Xmas present :)

The movie started at 9:30pm and we got there at around 8:45. When we got to the city, Tian and I kept squealing over how pretty it was at night :L We kept pointing out different apartments that were going to be our future home. There was a really nice one near Chinatown but Tian didn't want to live near there. Why not?? We could grab chinese food in the middle of the night and Nancy could just walk to the nearest Korean store. Plus Chinatown is cheap. Isn't it?

Roxie's parents dropped us off near the Ferris Wheel place and told us to walk to IMAX ourselves. When the six of us got there, we sat on the benches near the harbour and tried not to stare at the couple that kept making out in front of us. I forgot how pretty Darling Harbour could be at night. The buildings are all lit up and there's people everywhere. We could hear music from the harbourside clubs and I suddenly had an image of myself spastic dancing at the Ice Lounge when I turn 18. Right Bonnie? ;)

We were stranded outside IMAX for like, 20 minutes because my aunt and uncle took forever to get there. They finally got here and then we went in. THERE WERE SO MANY PEOPLE. The movie was totally booked out and most of the people watching it were like 20-somethings so you can imagine how out of place six kids looked. Anyways, they opened the doors and we went in. Our seats were in row C which is like, near the front. God, my neck felt so cramped after 2 and a half hours of staring up at the screen.

It was an awesome movie though. If I had to describe it in one word, I would say "Epic", next up would be "blue". LOL. The visuals were STUNNING. I know the scenery and things were all computerized but still... I wouldn't mind living in Pandora. God, I wouldn't mind being blue if it meant that I could do all the cool things the characters did, such as flying, archery, etc. I think after a while, you kinda forget that being blue is abnormal and you start to see the characters as being normal people.

When the movie finished, Roxie's parents took us to a Chinese restaraunt in Chinatown and ate there. HAHHAHA. I was surprised that it was even open at 12:30am. I think some people were wondering why six, wet kids were even out at night in the city. We went home after that and I nearly fell asleep in the car. What a great start to the holidays :)

*****

I don't know why but some people really seem to hate the holidays. What part of it don't you like? Is it the part where you don't get to do any school work? Is it because you just HATE sleeping in? Or do you just really really really want to go to school? I don't know man...

Anyways, I like 'em. Yesterday morning, before IMAX, I watched Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King with Tian and CK. Call me geeky, but it's one of my favourite movies =3 Gollum... so sexy man. But we kinda ruined the movie by butting in with retarded quotes. Like when Sam was holding onto Frodo's hand as he nearly fell off the cliff, we would say, "Hold me Jack!". HAHAHA....ha... ha. Geddit? No? Pffff, fine >_>

After that I went on net and printed out music sheets for LOTR music. That's one of my goals these holidays: learn how to play more songs. I learnt some parts on the violin but it doesn't sound all that great without an ensemble.

Another goal would be to uh, clean my room. It's like a freakin' pigsty in here. Speaking of which, I should probably get started now...

Scoobie Frenzy!!

So um, I've kinda been going crazy with scoobies for the past few days. These are the ones I've made so far...

As you can see, most of them are kind of...... retarded. I've got no idea what to do with them now :L Does anyone want one by any chance? Just not the purple/black/silver one. I'll give the rest away though.

& because I'm a really bored person...

Beastly: Part II

A LOOOOOOOOOOOONG, LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOONG time ago, I mentioned that Beastly (the book) was being made into a movie and was gonna star Vanessa Hudgens, Mary-Kate Olsen and Alex Pettyfer. Wells, after searching it up on google again, I came across the site for the movie:

http://www.beastlythemovie.com/

There's a short teaser at the beginning which I'm not sure any of youse are interested in.... but whatever- if you're like me and have nothing better to do, then click on it.

Anyways, my eyes really hurt. I just spent the whole night and afternoon watching Gossip Girl eps and 90210. Damn, I forgot how awesome GG could be =3 The one I just watched had Lady Gaga in it and also Woody from "It's a Boy/Girl Thing".

Who's Knocking?

I told Nancy this yesterday but so far she's the only one I've told. Wanna know what I told her? :)

Wells, I told her that on Saturday night, while I was lying in bed, I heard this strange knocking sound through the wall. At first I just ignored it cuz I thought maybe, it's coming from downstairs. But it wasn't >_> It was definitely through the wall and there was a pattern. It was knock three times, pause, and knock three times again. Now, most of youse know that I live in a townhouse. Well, on the other side of the wall lives and old woman and I'm pretty sure, she wouldnn't have done the strange knocking. If it wasn't her then... who was knocking on my wall??

*shivers* It sounds so scary when I type it out like that. I think I've been reading too many horror story plots.....

Hey Look Juliana, I Can Be Messy Too :D

What I spent my whole afternoon (2 hours) doing:

& what my desk looks like now as a result of making it:

Farrout, it's so bloody hot today. I think I got sunburnt from just walking home :( Imagine what a whole day out in the sun would do to me? *cough*school-picnic*cough*

Together Forever! :L

So, I was talking to an old friend yesterday. We were catching up on each other's lives and stuff and I was telling her about the music excursion I just came back from. And then she goes, "My school's going to see Wicked. We get an educational discount so instead of paying $105, we only pay $55. I bet your school doesn't get anything like that."
.....
& that's when I decided that I had better things to do with my time... like watching a dog poop.

But anyways, the music excursion WAS fun yesterday - except for the part where Booney had to sit behind some stinky dude on the train :L Lots of schools went as well, including some rich, posh ones that we made fun of. E.g. there was a boys school that had a really dorky uniform. They wore shorts and their socks were pulled up to their knees. Oh, and also, they tucked their shirts in... & I thought our uniform was bad. HAHAHAHA.

At Circular Quay, we ate lunch and Booney pointed out to me that our violin teacher was here. She'd brought her two sons (the ones that broke her $1000 bow) and *squeal* the little one was so cute :L They stared at us over the tops of their ice cream cones and they looked like their mom, but blond.

Umm, I nearly fell asleep in the opera house even though the show wasn't boring. I dunno, it's like how the National Anthem makes me yawn, I can't explain it. Outside, we took embarassing photos such as squatting and making the pig nose.

On the way back, Juliana and I kept saying "Together Forever" in really retarded voices cuz we tried to get our group to sit together on the train. We made scoobies on the train and mine turned out wonky --' Juliana's one looked nice though

& that was my day yesterday.

P.S. I finally printed out the Korean lyrics. On Monday we shall attempt to sing Korean. *cough*fail*cough*

No Interrupting my Plans >_>

My Holiday Plan:

  • Eat
  • Sleep
  • Breathe
  • & repeat

"I like it :) Simple/easy to remember" - Jack Sparrow
