Last Days of High School // Song of the Week: "Lullaby" by Priscilla Ahn
"But before the night is through / I wanna do bad things to you."
Your typical teenage post about typical teenage problems. Don't be expecting anything mature and intellectual (as if I ever write intellectual posts anyway).
I want:
To curl up in bed and just sleep past 7:20 every day. I want to stay cooped up at home reading trashy historical romances for 3 hours straight (have just graduated from paranormal romances. My reading preferences reflect the circumstances of my life - they're insubstantial and all over the place). I want The Great Gatsby to self immolate and poof up out of my life. I wish Daisy Buchanan would get run over by a car. I want to watch The Voice tonight. But I can't... cause there's these thing called the HSC which I am a little bit worried about. I want to replace all my english homework with maths homework. I want to stop feeling so unmotivated. I want the weather to warm up. I want to stop freezing my ass off in maths class. I want to stop blogging now because it's cutting into my "study" time.
I am so mentally exhausted right now. I planned to come home and work on The Project That Shall Not Be Named but I just can't find the will to. My brain is still in holiday mode.
Can....not....go.....on. *collapses on the floor like Djokovic after that 32 shots rally*
I am so sad guys. I miss my trashy novels already :(
I am contemplating uploading the violin videos from Presentation Day on this blog. Contemplating. I doubt that will happen though because everytime I look at them, I cringe. Especially Bilge Rat Blues. That one was so craptastic. Oh and the Viva La Vida one makes me laugh because you can clearly see the Year 7s fidgeting at the back. And in every single performance, my face is screwed up in concentration like this: ><'
Well they could've been worse. Plus I doubt anyone really cares or pays attention to us anyway. 90% of the whole assembly is spent going, "Geeeeeez, are we done yet??" and talking to the person next to you. And plus, I had a good workout, running from one end of the hall to the other. You should've seen me man, I was so ninja.
Congrats to the SRC, captains and vice captains today. You guys did a great job. Oh and William, my mum said that you were her favourite presenter LOL. Just wanted to let you know.
WARNING - Shameless gushing in the body of this post. Read at your own risk. Seriously. I will not apologise for my shameless gushing lol. I deserve a good gush now and then. It's not like I go up to people and talk about my report. I like to gush inwardly. And on this blog. And I will stop saying the word "gush" now.
GUYSSS I AM VERY HAPPY WITH MY RESULTS :D Yes, even the results for the Year 12 subjects. My lowest rank for this report was 3rd lol. And that was for Modern and considering that I was going up against Year 12's, I am very very very very happy ^^. I came 1st for maths and english which made me very happy as well. It's easy to say you can do maths or that you can do english but being able to do both is such an accomplishing feeling :D MENGLISH ALL THE WAY!!
Eheh yeah, I can't continue talking about results without sounding stuck up or boastful so I'll shut up now.
P.S. GOOD LUCK TOMORROW ANNIE!! YOU'LL DO GREAT!!
I have to be very honest here. I become exceptionally wary everytime someone asks me for advice on History Extension and whether it is a subject worth picking up. It's been happening quite frequently recently (mostly because Year 12 is just around the corner) and well, to a lot of people I don't really know what to say.
As you all know I am extremely biased against History Extension. If you haven't picked up on that by now you must be as dense as one of Hagrid's rock cakes. So giving advice to people is really really hard - especially when I already have my own built-in bias towards a subject. To be fair though, it's not that the subject is bad or that the teacher isn't great. It's because it's just such a mentally taxing subject that requires so many hours and hours of input and consolidation.
For example, we get booklets handed out in class which we are supposed to take home and do some "extra reading" on. This is just an excerpt of something we got at the beginning of the year:
"The past, appropriated by historians, is never the past itself, but a past evidenced by its remaining and accessible traces and transformed into historiography through a series of theoretically and methodologically disparate procedures (ideological positionings, tropes, emploments, argumentative modes), such historiography - as articulated in both upper and lower cases - then being subject to a series of uses which are logically infinite but which, in practice, correspond to the range of power bases that exist at any given juncture and spectrum. Understood in this way, as a rhetorical, metaphorical, textual practice governed by distinctive but never homogeneous procedures through which the maintenance/transformation....... etc, etc."
(Source: Rethinking History - Keith Jenkins)
If you understood all that on the first reading then CONGRATULATIONS. YOU MUST BE SOME SORT OF GENIUS OR SOMETHING. It took me at least 4 readings just to understand that paragraph - and then I had to go grab a dictionary and look up every second word to gain a deeper understanding. And you know what was worse? I seemed to have been dumped into a class full of people who had way better literacy skills than me and actually seemed to UNDERSTAND what they were reading. Don't try to prove me wrong. I am entirely justified in having yucky feelings towards said subject.
I am probably not the best person to come to for advice on subject choices anyway. Which reminds me. I was feeling mightily depressed after school today because of maths and the realization that I would have TWELVE periods per week on that subject alone. And then I had a "hallelujah" moment at tutoring where I realised that I could just drop 4 u maths and even do 9 units this year if I wanted to. Cause get this, 9 + 3 = 12!!! So technically, my 9 units next year, plus my 3 units this year would still leave me with 2 extra units.
But then I realised that that logic was based on the assumption that I would do well in this year's HSC exams. So I sunk into spiral-of-despair-v2.
Not that I'm dropping 4u maths. It's just nice knowing that there's a "trampoline" to catch me if I decided that I didn't like what I was doing now.
Okay enough about maths and history and school and all that yucky stuff. Let's have a DW gif spam!!!! YAY!! (haven't done them in a while!)
And I have finished Series 5 :) I watched the last episode yesterday (even though I promised myself I wouldn't watch any until the exams were over) but come on, it was only one episode.
And more sexy Matt Smith dance moves.... because one can never have enough sexy Matt Smith dance moves.
P.S. My mum, who works at a high school as an interpreter, just came into the room and asked me what an "import" was cause she had to translate for some parents tomorrow. Apparently their kid got sent to the principal for calling some guy an "import" and "fob". LOLZ FOREVER. Now my mum can't stop laughing at the definition.
Happy Late Halloween? (SHINee style)

"Fear less, hope more;I don't really understand how you can "eat less and chew more" but I guess this one can't be taken too literally. Although, I do like it cause it rhymes.
eat less, chew more;
whine less, breathe more;
talk less, say more;
love more, and all good things will be yours." -
Swedish Proverb
USUI FTW! XD
Last night I dreamt that I'd gotten a tattoo and I spent the whole day at school trying to hide it from people. And when I got home, I was fully paranoid that my parents would find out as well. It was such a pretty tattoo though. It made me want to get one in real life - and then I remembered that that would involve needles piercing my skin and injecting some kind of ink into the layer beneath my skin and it would probably hurt.... a lot. Yeh... Reading Ink Exchange before sleeping is not a good influence.
Today in maths class, I had an epiphany. All these years, I've been ruling a line down my maths book at the 8cm mark. Today, I realised that the halfway mark is actually at 8.5cm :O It all became clear to me then, no wonder it always seemed like one half was bigger than the other! All these years, my maths book has been totally inaccurate. Talk about a breakthrough in the science of maths-book-ruling.
As you can see, my life is very interesting.
But anyway, I only realised this because maths lessons at school are when I tend to space out (juliana, if you're reading this, I can see you rolling your eyes). I think Mr N told my parents at parent-teacher night that I seem "really bored in class" or something like that. Huh, I dunno, maybe its because erm, YOUR VOICE PUTS ME TO SLEEP. Then again, he also started talking about Einstein and Newton to my parents, and asking random students if they had money, so I think its safe to say he wasn't actually making any sense that night. Whatever, point is, no-one gets to call me spaced out but myself.
In music today, Othilia and I started having this argument about who was the more insane one. I swear to you, I am perfectly sane. I may have some neurotic moments (runs in the family, I mean look at Tian), but I am not insane. Othilia on the other hand is not normal. LOL. Yeh, and that's why we started this You-Are-More-Insane-Than-Me argument. Bonnie just sat there and ate Ms H's lollies. Oh by the way, did I forget to mention, us three OWNED THAT QUIZ. All because Bonnie knew her terminology and I knew my key signatures. Heh, no one else knew that B flat minor had 5 flats or that D flat minor had seven flats and one double flat. I guess my piano teacher yelling at me every lesson does have its uses (you know, besides permantly damaging the hearing in my right ear).
Lunch was pretty epic as well. Half the class sought out Mr W at lunch and demanded an extension for the history assignment. He said, "Only if you manage to get a petition with every single person in this class's signature." So that started the biggest collaboration in the history of ... collaborations. There were people running everywhere, trying to round up all the people from 10HE. There were groups who ran all the way to D block to get people to sign the paper. We managed to get EVERY SINGLE SIGNATURE, except for Snez and Anita who were somewhere, but we forged those (LOL). Good enough, considering the size of the school. Anyway the petition was delivered but nooo, Mr W said, "I want proof that the people actually signed this, get everyone in the class to come stand in front of me."
So we did.
It took more running around but we managed to get everyone (all 30 of us) just as the end of lunch bell rang. So he finally relented and gave us our history assignment extension. AWESOME MUCH? Snez and I even made up a warcry:
I don't know but I've been told!
(I don't know but I've been told!)
Give us a history extension or your mighty old!
HISTORY! (extension!)
HISTORY! (extension!)
LOL, who says we're the non-creative grade?Puh-lease.
Anyways, I will now leave you guys with a riddle. People from High Achievers already know the answer so don't spoil it :D
Two American soldiers meet on a bridge. One is the father of the other one's
son. What is there relationship?
P.S. Can someone please tell me whether Merlin is a cultural influence in Australia? It's a British TV show and its based on the Arthurian legends that originate from Britain. Does that make it a cultural influence?
This is my second post of the week. Like woah, what has gotten into me. I haven't blogged in a month and a half and suddenly, I've blogged twice in a week. I guess its because it's the:
Such a relief man. Term 1 was so hectic :'( At times it was like I was drowning but I got through it.
1 down; 3 more to go.
I'll just talk a bit about the stuff that happened this term.
I tried out for E-day LOL and totally bombed my audition. It was so FREAKIN SCARY. Like now that I think about it, it shouldn't have been that hard but it was :( I'm such a big chicken these days but when i think about it, I wasn't at all shy when I was small... Anyway, at the end of it, the teachers+students gave me this pitying look; kind of like, "You tried but you sucked." I just can't get over my nervousness. God, I hope I don't have stage fright.
But yeh, for some reason I still got in LOL.
This term, I also found out that Bonnie, Othilia, Tian, Jun and I are going to be playing at the Opera House :D Violin, I mean. The concert is going to be called "Jacaranda" and is part of the "Festival of Instrumental Music". At least that's what it says on my note here but in my opinion it should really be "Festival of the Squawking Geese" because that's what my violin sounds like right now. Oh well, I guess its not that bad compared to my sister's oboe playing. She makes my violin playing sound like a Edward Cullen's voice.
Anyway, So You Think You Can Dance is gonna finish in about a month. I want Jessie, Robbie, Ivy and Philippe(?) to be the Top 4. And I want either Jessie or Robbie to win. Remember these words people. Jessie and Robbie are going to WIN.
Last but not least, here is a game that EVERYONE should play. It's called Boomshine and its seriously the most addictive game in the whole universe.
Click: http://www.k2xl.com/games/boomshine/
You know you want to.
ZOMG. Have youse seen the new, new moon trailer? It's so awesomely awesome. There's more action and suspense in it. The director looks like he's done a good job with it - I can't wait =D My only regret is that he didn't get to do the first one. That first one was a pitiful excuse for a film. PITIFUL I TELL YOU.
In answer to Anita's question, yes, I still blog :) even though it seems like no one else does...
I'm so proud of myself. I did FOUR of those science assignment thingos today without a break in between. ^^ So proud of myself for not getting sidetracked. I did play some point & click games and dressupgames at the beginning but... that's beside the point.
There's not much to say about school. Umm... in science, our paper mache star was such a FAIL that poor juliana had to do it all again at home. But she said she didn't mind so yeh. Seriously though, our first one looked like something that got run over, pushed back into shape and then jabbed 100 times by some vicious bird. LOL.
My sister's been doing many performances lately. Tonight, she danced at the Gillawarna Festival or some shit like that and my dad recorded the whole show. Guess what song the choir sang? Under the Southern Skies- Nikki Webster :L Brings back memories, doesn't it nanc? *wink wink nudge nudge*
What else did I do at school? Erm.. me, hannah and tian made a halfish-singing group at recess and we sang (atrociously) any of the lame songs we could come up with. In maths, I had the quadratic equation song stuck in my head. I bludged in english cuz I finished english rules (H) and yes I realise none of youse want to hear about these insignificant little details of my life so I'll just stop here.
P.S. I hope people start blogging again... I have nothing to read when I'm bored :(
SA SA MOKU!!
was the new word I learnt today :) Actually it's supposed to be sa sa baby but I substituited moku (fag) into it. Either way, it's gonna sound weird so w/e.
Tomorrow is the dreaded monologue. At least I hope I get to say it tomorrow cuz I've spent the whole week waiting for my name to be drawn out of the hat. I could've used that time wisely to edit my present speech but I felt too lazy. There were lots of ppl in my class who had really good speeches that were funny/dramatic and compared to them, my speech sucks shit. Oh well... :(
Lunch today was fun :L Othilia, Bonnie and I were standing near the light area and ambushing people - kind of like the mexican wave thingo except everytime someone walked past, we would shout, "WHY DON'T YOU LIKE ME?!?" At first, I kept cracking up and could only say, "WHY DON'T YOU - PFFFFFFF *insert hysterical laughter*" cuz it was too embarassing. I sounded like a crazy person -.-' But in the end, we finally managed to say it without cracking up. Unfortunately, one of the people who walked past was my reading buddy so I'm guessing that on Friday, she's gonna be giving me strange looks while reading.
In music, we had to listen to Ms H play THAT song. I'm not sure but I think she's played THAT song to our class at least 3 times. If I hear her play THAT song one more time, I'm gonna spontaeneously combust. One of the things we're doing in music this term is, we finally get free choice in what song we want to play. I'm thinking of doing Howl's Moving Castle but its a bit complicated cuz 1. there aren't enough parts, and 2. othilia's not sure if she can play it on violin. Ah wells, we've got heaps more time to pick, I guess.
I'm gonna end off here with the two books you MUST READ. When I say must read, I mean READ-OR-ELSE-I'LL-COME-BASH-YOU. ok? ^^
- Beastly - which I mentioned was gonna be turned into a movie.
- & The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
What are you waiting for man? READ.
Two days ago, I had nothing to do. If you asked me again today, I would tell you that I have too much stuff to do. Funny how life changes like that eh?
Ifeelya, if you're reading this then I'd like to say thanks again for the GINORMOUS Gobstopper XD I'll try to eat it soon and I'll also time how long it takes me to. I'm estimating at least 2 weeks (it is the size of a cricket ball, y'know).
High Achievers was a bit boring today. We played the CSI game again and didn't make much progress. I folded miniature cranes and flowers while Mr Ward screamed at the projection. Later, he blamed us for not helping and started yelling at us as well. LOL.
In music, Stephanie chucked me dirtys.
But at lunch I chucked Stephanie dirtys as well so it evened out.
& then Nancy started chucking poops at us.
Well, that's my all I have to say about school. Right now I have a dilemma - whether to go to japanese camp or not. Thing is, it sounds fun and I want to go but it doesn't seem fair to the other people who wanted to go as well (but weren't able to) :( What do I do...
But anyways, here were the bloopers I was talking about. ( I hope uploading this video doesn't count as using net. It was only for blogging purposes.)
Can someone please explain 0:38? :L
Today, I realised that if you knew my name + school, you could stalk me via google. It would come up with a list of links and one of them led to this page. I've changed the settings now so that people don't stumble onto this page randomly. It's not that I have a problem with randoms, its just that on this page, I sometimes bitch about things that might offend some people...
Like now.
Mr. Downsyndrome, you are a gaybo and I hate you >:( I AM NOT BRINGING SCIENCE WORK TO AMERICA! Like, WTFFF?! Today, when I told him that I wasn't going to be here for four weeks, he gave me a death stare and said, "WHY are you telling this to me now? Do you want me to run around at the last minute preparing work for you?"
Errr.. NO! Who said anything about extra work? Not me. I just wanted you to know that, in case we have anything important coming up. FAR OUT! I already gave a note to the office about my early leave. I've done everything I should've done so just STOP with the why-are-you-not-responsible shit. You can take your science hw and ----- &%$#@
Ms S, you are also a gaybo. Why the hell do I need to go typequick tomorrow to record my results? What's wrong with telling them to you now? During the whole typequick course, I've been staring at my results 10000 times and NOW you call me back to record them. Gee, isn't that smart.
Mr N is also a gaybo - but that's self-explanatory.
Mr. J (tutor), I hate you as well. Why do you have to make me do a test the day before I go? I have a life okay. Please don't make me do a test that I haven't prepared for, espcially one that I didn't even know was on, until the day before.
& who's the gayest of them all, you ask? Well, Ms H of course. She also gave me a you-just-made-my-life-harder-glare when I said I was going to the US. I think she was pissed coz I wasn't going to be here for the test. That's not my problem, I warned her a week ago that I was leaving and she chose to remember now. Again, NOT MY PROBLEM!
Phew, now that I've gotten that out of my system, I feel much better. I can now go back to acting normal at school instead of having a black cloud hanging over me the whole day. I swear, I just wanted some people get struck by lightning today...
Anyway, this is why I need to protect my blog from unwanted visitors. I really don't want people stumbling onto this blog by accident.... especially people who'll get offended by what I write.
I think I'll end off now with a POTO reference (HAHA, you thought that for once, I wasn't going to mention Phantom of the Opera, didn't you? Well tough luck).
(as she attempts to leave the first
time)Carlotta: Andiamo.
Tutti. No, es finito. Is finished. Get my doggy, bring my doggy. Bye-bye.
Bye-bye, dancing girls. Bye-bye. See you later, because I'm going now. It is
finished.See you later.Lefevre: Gentlemen,
good luck. If you need me, I shall be in Australia.
Well, if you need me, I'll (soon) be in america. Goodbye and goodnight :)
Moving on to happier subjects: AFTER A WHOLE WEEK OF PLAYING HEXIC (at least an hour every day), I FINALLY GOT A PEARL. For those who don't know you need 6 stars to get a pearl and to get a star, you need 6 hexagons in a particular shape. Basically, this is VERY VERY DIFFICULT.
& being the stupid idiot that I am, I forgot to print-screen it T_T I'll just show you a picture of my 5 stars... Btw, just ignore the table down the bottom that tells you I'm getting owned by Nancy.

Amy: Look, that's Diana!
Manly: Issirt? Let's call her! -screams in a girly
voice- HEEEYYY DIANAAA (L)!
"De bow is like a ship and de violin is the sea. De ship sails on the sea, okay?
Now to hold the bow, ze thumb is the captain and it sits on that part there.
Your middle finger is ze first mate and it goes to meet the captain, so put it
around de bow. The two other fingers are lazy! They REST on de boat like so. Now
the pinky is the sail, it directs ze boat so bend it like this and put it on
top! That is how you hold ze bow. Now we move on to holding the violin..."
