I'm blogging so much this week! Don't worry, I'll get bored... eventually. I can't help myself. I feel like showing you guys all this random stuff; such as this clip from episode 6 of Shut Up! I quite like the song. It's called "Jaywalking". It's not the whole thing though because at around the 2:30 mark, shit happens. You should watch it in HD. No really, you should.
Anyway enjoy the song... and if not, there's always the eye candy. (Seriously, this drama has an excess of beautiful people. Why so perfect everyone? WHY?)

Well now that I'm in one of my crazy, obsessed drama phases, y'all better watch out for all my future posts. I tend to go a bit.... overboard in expressing my love for things. Especially when those things are tall, sexy and Korean.
You have been warned.

The hipster of the 70s':
English extension tomorrow:
"To what extent does Coleridge's poetry and Emily Bronte's Wuthering Heights reflect common Romanticist sentiments of the 18th-19th Century."
Me: ....... I have no fucking idea. BUT I CAN DANCE THE WUTHERING HEIGHTS SONG FOR YOU IF YOU WANT!!!! *starts doing weird gyrating movement in the middle of the hall*
Lols. Oh Kate Bush, what have you done to me? Now the only thing I can think of when someone says "Emily Bronte" is that line, "wuthering, wuthering, wuthering heights, Heathcliffe!"

My inner hipster has been posting a lot of American/British indie or whatnot but I'll take a break from that and post something Korean today. It's not exactly "k-pop" as in the electronic/mascara wearing idols stuff so you know, if you're allergic to that type of music, don't worry, I won't subject you to it.
First off, I LOVE this song. Have loved it for so many years but for some reason, I've never blogged about it. It is my go-to song for when things are going crap in life but I also listen to it when I'm happy. I don't know... I guess it's just a song for every occassion. I can't possibly express my love for it so maybe you should just watch it yourself.
Here, enjoy the slo-mo:
This was also the song that I sent to the music teacher once for a class analysis thingy. (It wasn't Mrs M, this guy was like a temp or something). Technically he did say we could send him anything so I was kinda like, "Hey sucker, imma gonna expose you to some Korean indie and see how you react". Also this happened a week before I decided to drop music so I was kinda just bludging throughout all the lessons. He didn't really react though. He just said "good analysis" and then told Bonnie off for sending him Rebecca Black. I thought that was a bit unfair. The guy seriously needed to take a chill pill.

Ha! Got your attention with the "Free Album Download" part didn't I? Yes, you read right, there is a free album download this week. But before I get to that, let me talk about The Civil Wars.
The Civil Wars are the most awesome thing to happen to me all week. Yeah, I'm aware they existed a long time before I started paying attention but for those long time fans, bear with me as I go through my mini fangasm.

All their songs are so beautiful. Simple, but beautiful. Basically, the grammy nominated due is made up of Joy Williams and John Paul White. They're married but not to each other. However they make such beautiful acoustic music together that you would've thought they WERE married to each other. Their website describes their songs as "minimalistic" which I guess means there's no fancy schmancy beat disrupting their tunes.
The website also says that the song above was apparently played in its entirety on an episode of Grey's Anatomy. I wouldn't know cause I don't watch Grey's Anatomy but apparently after that episode aired, hundreds of thousands of people started googling the song and they were given a huge popularity boost. Taylor Swift also tweeted her love for the duo, which I guess partly explains their collaboration on Safe and Sound.
Usually I would only post one song per week but I think for this band, I have to make an exception because I love them too much and only one video does not do them justice. Here's the first song that they ever wrote together.

Oh and yeah, they have a free album download on their official site (fully legal if you're wondering). The performances on it are live but that doesn't matter because I have a feeling their live performances are even better than their studio stuff. There's 10 songs on the album I think: http://thecivilwars.com/music.php

Don't ask me what she's singing about, I have no idea. It might have something to do with da sex though:
E.g.
"Pick me up and take me like vitamin
'Cause my body's sweet like sugar in the morning yeah
Baby love me cause I'm playing on the radio
(How do you like me now?)"
Yeah.... that doesn't sound sexual at all.
Oh Lana Del Rey. You're so amusingly ambiguous. I can't decide whether your lyrics are so meaningful that they escape comprehension or whether you really have no idea what you're singing about sometimes.
Either way, I don't really care. As long as the song sounds nice.

But that's not my main point. After listening to that song a few hundred times, I then decided to go listen to some more stuff from Kimbra. And then I found this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=elyk9MBY72U

Today wasn't such a great day. First off, it was a Monday ('nuff said). Secondly, I had a dream about ghosts invading E block and haunting me during free period. Thirdly, I was late for my vocals lesson and last of all, my laptop crashed on me in the middle of writing my legal studies essay. Oh and also, the guy who lives across from my house and who's room I can see into from my window, is now playing the guitar. That's not such a bad thing. Except I find it very awkward that his window is directly opposite from mine so everytime I look up from my computer, I am in his direct line of vision. Awkward. And I don't want to close my windows because the sunlight is so nice.
I had my first composition class/lesson today. From now on, every Monday during music lessons, we're gonna have this British guy come in and teach us how to compose stuff. It's quite interesting actually. I don't mind learning how to compose but the thing is, we get assigned so much homework. For example, this week's homework is to compose a 16 bar piece based on harmonic chord progressions. We also need to pick two songs that we like, write a paragraph of analysis on each and then send it to him via studywiz.
I am so going to send him something korean, MUHAHAHAHAHA. Technically, his exact words were, "It can be Lady Gaga or punk rock, just send me anything that appeals to you." Well, imma gonna send you some good ol' korean indie. See how much you like that then, eh?
No really, I am going to do that.
Speaking of Korean stuff, I'm just gonna talk a little bit about kpop. It's hard to say this without it sounding derogatory but I'll try. Kpop.... don't get me wrong, I like kpop but sometimes I just feel so annoyed that it's so 2D. Take the girl groups for example. Whenever I watch their live performances or MVs I can't help feeling that there are only two extremes - the cutesy, bubbly, innocent, rainbow-vomit-inducing songs and the highly aggressive, imma-gonna-kill-ya-boy songs. There rarely seems to be any in-betweens. And some of the stuff is just so manufactured. But I guess that goes for any type of music. There's nothing that I really like on the radio these days. It's only either R & B or club music. Sigh. Mainstream music, y u no like me?

Just came back from a very productive MH lesson where Snez and I decided to give Justin Bieber a makeover:Isn't he beautiful?
Bonnie's going to leave today.... She's ditching me in music :'(
BYE BONNIE!! As a substitute, I shall carry around a picture of Mr Bean's face and bring it to all our classes.
Hmm, what else did I want to say? Oh right. The songs I really love right now are:
- Haunted - Taylor Swift
- Teenage Dream (Glee Version) - I swear I could listen to it non-stop and not get bored.
- It Hurts - 2NE1- one of the few mainstream kpop songs I can stand.
- Boats and Birds - Gregory and the Hawk - I didn't really like it at first but it grew on me.
& lots and lots of kpop indie! Including stuff by Younha, Misty Blue, Casker and Shin Min Ah :D I also really love listening to old drama OST's lol. They don't make my withdrawal symptoms any better though.

I did this for music class composition but since musescore sucks shit, I'd rather play it. The lyrics are from the book Mockingjay, written by Suzanne Collins but I made the melody + harmony up. Obviously, I prerecorded some parts on my digital piano cause unfortunately, I don't have three hands.
Here are the lyrics (I only used the last verse though):
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where they strung up a man they say murdered three.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where the dead man called out for his love to flee.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Where I told you to run so we'd both be free.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
Are you, are you
Coming to the tree
Wear a necklace of rope, side by side with me.
Strange things did happen here
No stranger would it be
If we met up at midnight in the hanging tree.
****
BTW, I finished reading Mockingjay like a week ago but I won't review it until more people have read it. Or maybe I just won't review it. I have to get over how disappointing it was. WHYYY?!

This one took me FOREVER, not because it was hard to play but because everytime I tried to record it, something would happen to stuff it up. First, my dad barged in, then my mom, then my sister. It's like they were on a mission of sabotage F5. And then my voice started making this weird cracking sound, the camera ran out of batters and the memory card was full. & by the time I finally had a successful recording, the song had kind of lost its original sound if you know what I mean. It didn't sound as good as the first time I recorded it -.-' Oh well.
I think I need a better camera for recording cause the one I'm using is my dad's digital camera... which isn't all that great.
This is for you fodmn :L I didn't even try to sound like taylor swift cause her voice is waaaaay different but I hope you still like it.
Anyone else have any song requests? I'll play anything... as long as its not by the ting tings *shivers*.

Yay! Friday afternoon :D & here's my next cover. The song's called If I Die Young - and no, I'm not emo. I came across it after visiting a random Hunger Games fan site :) It really does suit the book I think.
Dedicated to Taemin, even though the song has nothing to do with you whatsoever.
Haha, how I managed to stuff up a song involving only 4 chords is beyond me. & do I really sound so nasally in real life? Ewwy ><' Oh well I tried...
(Lyrics)
If I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
oh oh oh oh
Lord make me a rainbow, I’ll shine down on my mother
She'll know I’m safe with you when she stands under my colors, oh and
Life ain't always what you think it ought to be, no
ain't even grey, but she buries her baby
The sharp knife of a short life, well
I’ve had just enough time
If I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
The sharp knife of a short life, well
I’ve had just enough time
And I’ll be wearing white when I come into your kingdom
I’m as green as the ring on my little cold finger
I’ve never known the lovin' of a man
But it sure felt nice when he was holding my hand
There’s a boy here in town says he’ll love me forever
Who would have thought forever could be severed by
The sharp knife of a short life, well
I’ve had just enough time
So put on your best boys and I’ll wear my pearls
What I never did is done

A penny for my thoughts, oh no I’ll sell them for a dollar
They're worth so much more after I’m a goner
And maybe then you’ll hear the words I been singin’
Funny when you're dead how people start listenin’
If I die young bury me in satin
Lay me down on a bed of roses
Sink me in the river at dawn
Send me away with the words of a love song
oh oh
The ballad of a dove
Go with peace and love
Gather up your tears, keep ‘em in your pocket
Save them for a time when your really gonna need 'em oh
The sharp knife of a short life, well
I’ve had just enough time
So put on your best boys and I’ll wear my pearls

I am so confuzzled right now. Should I choose music? Should I not choose music? It doesn't help when people say "Choose it if you love it." If only it were that easy. Can someone actually look me in the eye and say they don't care about the scaling of a subject? My neighbour did music - it dragged her HSC scores down and she had already passed her 8th grade exam when she did music in high school. LOL, okay bad example. But honestly - there are performing arts schools out there and selective schools who specialise in music and stuff. How do we compare? ><' I'm so confused.

Anyway, after some debate with myself, I decided to upload a cover of me singing Little House by Amanda Seyfried. Yeh, I convinced myself when I realised that no one reads this blog anyway :) Anyone who knows me knows that I have the most massive stage fright ever but hey, this isn't a stage and you're not gonna see my face. Yay :D
Please excuse the shitass guitar playing. This is what comes from learning guitar off youtube/chord sites TT'. Maybe I should ask my sister if she could play it instead... Oh and the pause in the middle comes from scrolling down the screen for chords LOL.
Dedicated to BANJOS2ECT ... again (hence the ring XD)
I love this song. My sister and I watched Dear John last night. It was so boring... seriously. But Amanda Seyfried has THE BEST VOICE EVER. So go check out her video on youtube.
P.S. OMG CK the gaybo just came back from the shops with my dad and she bought... A GUITAR. Seriously, why does she need another one? If she gives up like she did with the oboe I'm gonna WHOOP HER ASS.

Just got back from temple where I saw Elyn and Garry. Now my hair smells like those horrible incense sticks and my eyes are stinging from the smoke they give off.
I should get back to blogging frequently but I seem to have other stuff that I want to do more. If I'm lucky, I can probably blog once a week...
Anyways, yesterday I learnt a valuable life lesson: NEVER TELL YOUR COUSIN THAT YOU ARE BORED.
If you were a type of music
Oh and speaking of indie music, I'm listening to a lot of Lisa Mitchell songs these days. Her songs take a while to grow on you... but after repeated playings, I'm starting to really like them. Take the "Coin Laundry" song for example. When I first heard it I was like WTF? But then after listening to it a lot, I realised that it's quite catchy and the message is very sweet.
Other songs that I've been addicted to these days are:
- Falling Over Me - Demi Lovato (ahaha yeh, I don't know what it is about DL songs but I can't stop listening to them. They're like drugs - not that I've ever taken any but figuratively speaking.)
- We'll Be a Dream - We the Kings ft. Demi Lovato
- Starlight - Muse (again, extremely addictive)
- I Got You - Leona Lewis
- Kingdom - Erika Heyntaz
- and anything by Lisa Mitchell
Some of these are probably a bit old but I've only just discovered them now. C'mon, my ipod was basically untouched for the whole holidays.
I also really like the "Ordinary Miracle" song by Sarah McLachlan. Thank god she sang it at the opening ceremony, it sounded so familiar and I never knew the name of it. I watched the WHOLE opening ceremony of the Winter Olympic Games. So proud of myself :D

EDIT: I'm having troubles with my blog posts. If you can, please comment and tell me whether you can see the song I just posted, and also whether you can see the movie that's in the post below. Thank you :)

SA SA MOKU!!
was the new word I learnt today :) Actually it's supposed to be sa sa baby but I substituited moku (fag) into it. Either way, it's gonna sound weird so w/e.
Tomorrow is the dreaded monologue. At least I hope I get to say it tomorrow cuz I've spent the whole week waiting for my name to be drawn out of the hat. I could've used that time wisely to edit my present speech but I felt too lazy. There were lots of ppl in my class who had really good speeches that were funny/dramatic and compared to them, my speech sucks shit. Oh well... :(
Lunch today was fun :L Othilia, Bonnie and I were standing near the light area and ambushing people - kind of like the mexican wave thingo except everytime someone walked past, we would shout, "WHY DON'T YOU LIKE ME?!?" At first, I kept cracking up and could only say, "WHY DON'T YOU - PFFFFFFF *insert hysterical laughter*" cuz it was too embarassing. I sounded like a crazy person -.-' But in the end, we finally managed to say it without cracking up. Unfortunately, one of the people who walked past was my reading buddy so I'm guessing that on Friday, she's gonna be giving me strange looks while reading.
In music, we had to listen to Ms H play THAT song. I'm not sure but I think she's played THAT song to our class at least 3 times. If I hear her play THAT song one more time, I'm gonna spontaeneously combust. One of the things we're doing in music this term is, we finally get free choice in what song we want to play. I'm thinking of doing Howl's Moving Castle but its a bit complicated cuz 1. there aren't enough parts, and 2. othilia's not sure if she can play it on violin. Ah wells, we've got heaps more time to pick, I guess.
I'm gonna end off here with the two books you MUST READ. When I say must read, I mean READ-OR-ELSE-I'LL-COME-BASH-YOU. ok? ^^
- Beastly - which I mentioned was gonna be turned into a movie.
- & The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
What are you waiting for man? READ.
