The Hunger Games

Yesterday, I finished reading a really really REALLY good book called the Hunger Games (by Suzanne Collins). It was seriously one of the coolest books I've read in ages - like, since City of Bones and even Twilight. It has romance, action, adventure and every other cool thing you can think of. Like all the other good stuff that I've read or watched before, I'm gonna blog about it :) Don't worry, I won't give out any spoilers.

The Hunger Games is about a girl called Katniss Everdeen who lives in a place in North America called the Capitol. The Capitol is surrounded by 12 districts, and each district specialises in something (e.g agriculture, mining, luxury items, etc.).

Each year, one boy and one girl is picked from each district to participate in "the Hunger Games". The 24 contestants are put into a giant arena (or landscape) to fight to the death and only one winner is allowed. This is the Capitol's way of showing that they have power over the 12 districts.

Katniss and a boy called Peeta are this year's tributes from district 12. They're brought to the Capitol to be presented to the public and also to train for the Hunger Games. To Katniss, survival is second nature, she grew up hunting to feed her family everyday but the Games are far more dangerous than anything she's ever done and Katniss finds herself in the most terrifying situation of her life. To win she must weigh survival against humanity, life against love.

Well, that's my review which was a bit of the blurb + things that I could remember from the top of my head. Again, it doesn't really do the book justice but point is, its a really really good, engrossing, brilliant book which I think EVERYONE should read :)
